TAKE ACTION: FOR CONSUMERS
Ask local businesses to sign the Open to All business pledge show their support! Here are quick and easy ways to reach out to your favorite inclusive business and ask them to sign the pledge:
Visit your favorite local businesses:
Next time you’re at your favorite local business, let them know about Open to All and ask them to sign the business pledge. Print out an Open to All flyer. You can also order a window cling for every business you plan on visiting.
Make the Case:
Once you arrive, ask for the owner and give them the flyer. Explain why you support Open to All and why, as a business that supports diversity and inclusion, they should sign the Open to All business pledge. If the owner isn’t there, leave the flyer and encourage the business to visit www.OpenToAll.com to learn more.
Make the Ask:
Once you’ve made the case with the business owner, ask them to sign the business pledge online or fill out the pledge card on the back of the flyer. On the back of the flyer is a pledge card. Have them fill it out—it will only take a minute!—and hand it back to you.
- Later, when you get home, enter their information online below and officially register the business. Don’t forget to tell the businesses that they will need to look for a confirmation email from Open to All to complete their registration.
- Alternatively, consider bringing a tablet or a phone with you so you can sign businesses up online directly.
- Once they sign, hand them a window cling to put in their public-facing window. Note: It’s important that businesses sign the Open to All pledge before putting up a window cling. We want to make sure all businesses are counted, but we can’t do that unless they sign the pledge online and join officially.
Show Them Love:
Tag your favorite businesses on social media and thank them for signing the pledge. Don’t forget to use #OpenToAll and tag @OpentoAllofUs! Click here for sample posts.
Remind them about Open to All’s social media toolkit, and encourage them to post the Open to All badge on their website and social media pages to show their customers online that they are open to all.
Can't visit in person?
No problem! Tag your favorite businesses on social media and ask them to sign the pledge. Or, reach out to them via letter or email. Let businesses know that once they sign on, they will receive a window cling in the mail. Click here for a sample outreach letter.
Share What Else Businesses Can Do:
